Another Episode from Fiesole and an update on the "L'Aquila Earthquake Relief Fund"
She is an amazing cook of all things Tuscan, and even if she does not speak a work of English, we hope this recipe translates into a mouthful of pleasure for all of you! Margherita is a great inspiration to us; with her ease in the kitchen, her natural approach to anything eatable, and mostly her incredible eye for the ingredients she uses, she always delivers the best dishes with the minimum effort. Join us today for a great recipe: Pesto Lasagne.
On another note, we
finally received the total count of the money we were
able to raise during the L'Aquila Eathquake Event: as
you might remember we hosted a fundraiser at the
Ferragamo store in
Beverly Hills at the end of May. Our shared effort
with Global Giving,
Ferragamo, and our celebrity eBay auction secured
a total of $103,264!!! We are thrilled by the
outpour of generosity, and we hope this little
chunk of money will help feed or provide shelter
to as many people as possible. There is still a
lot to be done for L'Aquila and other little towns
in the Abruzzi Region: still
over 60.000 people are living in tents or
trailers, schools have to be able to start
operating again in about a month or so, and many
basic needs are still in need of financing to
bring life back to where it was before the Earth
shook... On top of that, winter is basically
around the corner.
Our efforts have not stopped since the May event,
here is a link to a new Los Angeles based initiative
that we support with pride: Save L'Aquila Project.
For one week, between the 3rd and the 10th of
October, 2009 at the Jeanie Madsen Gallery
in Santa Monica, a photo exhibit will tell the
story of the Land and the People of the Abruzzi
Region in the aftermath of the earthquake.
Pictures can be purchased for a fixed price of $30
at the art gallery or on the web, and all proceeds
will be devolved to the cause. We are counting on
you to keep on making the difference for the
families affected by the disaster.
Last but not least, today is Debi's birthday (don't
